 Liz Parkinson

Liz Parkinson:

Liz comes from Australia, and lives on the edge of a rainforest by the sea. She gets many of her ideas for her art from there, which is a place filled with lots of birds, reptiles, insects, fish and other creatures. She is classified as an outsider artist, and has had no formal art training. In 1979 three of her drawings were purchased by the Collection de L'Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland, upon the recommendation of Jean Dubuffet. In November 2013 her work was featured in an article in the international art journal, Raw Vision. Over the years, she has spent a lot of time developing her unique pen and ink style, and also does some work on canvas in brightly coloured acrylic paints. Earlier Liz became an Economics teacher, after obtaining a University degree. Then she studied silver smithing as a hobby, but ended up teaching this craft for many years to adult groups, which was far easier than teaching Economics to kids! She has also travelled through Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Her drawings and paintings have appeared in many art exhibitions in Australia and overseas and are now included in a number of well-known art collections.
